Canberra Airport Case Study
Canberra Airport is the official hub for Australia’s capital city, a thriving precinct that comprises of the terminals and Fairbairn RAAF base.
Through recent upgrades to systems which automate flow, safety and security they now have the capacity to process in excess of 5 million passengers per annum for a medium tier airport, being one of the most efficient passenger terminals in Australia.
Although the airport is a highly secure facility, Canberra Airport lacked the visibility of individual staff, contractors and keys across the vast multi-level floor plan. This created a major lack of staff operational efficiency and non-existent asset protection. Goals:

–Reduce staff down time
Management teams were unable to monitor keys and so in the event of misplacement there would be no efficient / accurate way of knowing if the asset was in fact on or off site, who was responsible. Creating an investigation consuming hundreds of man hours.
They required a Real Time Locating System (RTLS) to manage and protect their keys, within their multiple key safe rooms and across the facility, both indoor and outdoor.
Through the use of Vector TAG attached to Keys and Indoor Sensors to monitor key safe rooms, we have provided a comprehensive solution which monitors, locates and generated reports based on key activity which met and surpassed all of their requirements. We also installed outdoor sensors at each exit to detect keys on patrol throughout the vast grounds area, making it easy for operational management teams to locate staff and keys in the event on an emergency.
With our end-to-end key management system they have met their rigorous asset safety requirements and also automated their log book auditing, saving thousands of man hours annually.
